The Honorable Amy W. Cox serves as the Spartanburg County Clerk of Court. Clerk Cox was born and raised in Spartanburg County. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina Upstate and a Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law. She worked as an Assistant Solicitor for Richland County prosecuting domestic violence cases and later served as Associate Probate Judge for Spartanburg County before being appointed Clerk of Court by Governor Henry McMaster on January 22, 2019.

The Clerk's office maintains General Sessions criminal cases, Common Pleas civil cases, Family Court records, juvenile records (restricted access), adoption records (sealed), mental health commitment records, foreclosure records, and grand jury records for the 7th Judicial Circuit. Spartanburg County is one of the busiest circuits in South Carolina, so the volume of criminal history records here is substantial.

Copy fees are $0.20 per page for standard copies, $10.00 per document plus $0.20 per page for certified copies, and $15.00 per document plus $0.20 per page for exemplified copies. Photographs cost $5.00 each. Payment by cash, check, money order, and credit or debit card is accepted in person. Spartanburg Sheriff's Office Arrest Records

The Records Division is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Sheriff's Office is committed to serving and protecting every resident of the county with transparency, professionalism, and accountability.

The Records Division handles incident report requests, accident report requests, arrest records, warrant information, background check referrals to SLED, civil process information, and concealed weapon permit applications. To request records, submit your request in person at the Records Division or by mail. Provide the incident date, time, and location along with the names of the parties involved. Present a valid government-issued photo ID. Processing typically takes 3 to 5 business days. Payment by cash, check, money order, or credit card is accepted.

SLED Criminal History Search for Spartanburg County

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division maintains the statewide criminal history repository. A single SLED search covers Spartanburg County criminal records along with all other South Carolina counties. The SLED CATCH system charges $25 per name-based search plus a $1 online convenience fee. Pay by credit or debit card. Results are returned immediately. Because Spartanburg County processes a high volume of criminal cases, SLED CATCH is especially useful for a complete view of someone's criminal background in this region.

The search is name-based and may return results for multiple people with similar names. Confirm identity before relying on any result. The SLED Public Dissemination Unit can assist with questions at 803.896.1443, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. SLED has been closed to in-person visits since December 15, 2008. The free SORT sex offender registry covers all registrants in Spartanburg County.

Under SC Code Section 23-3-115, SLED is authorized to release public criminal history records. South Carolina's FOIA statute at SC Code Section 30-4-30 also applies to criminal records held by local agencies. Expungement in Spartanburg County

Expungement removes a criminal record from public view under SC Code Section 17-1-40. The Spartanburg County Clerk of Court processes expungement orders signed by circuit court judges. Once complete, the case is removed from the Public Index and SLED purges it from the statewide database. Eligible cases include not-guilty verdicts, dismissed charges, nolle prossed cases, and certain first-offense convictions after the applicable waiting period.
